The Encounter with Professor Katsuyuki Fukagawa — The Beginning of bambina365 and the Science of Bamboo Mineral Skincare

The origin of bambina365 began with Professor Katsuyuki Fukagawa, Honorary Professor at Ube National College of Technology. His pioneering research on bamboo minerals inspired the creation of skincare that nurtures both the skin and the environment.

“When bamboo grows too much, it can harm the forest ecosystem.”

The moment I first heard those words, I was deeply shocked.

Today, the bambina365 skincare line — created with care for both the skin and the environment — exists because of one person:
Professor Katsuyuki Fukagawa, Honorary Professor at Ube National College of Technology and a leading researcher in bamboo mineral science.

I first learned about Professor Fukagawa’s research about 15 years ago through my husband, who studied in his laboratory.
At that time, I wasn’t particularly aware of environmental issues.
But as I raised my child, I began to think more deeply about how we can pass on a healthy planet to the next generation.

After retiring from Ube Kosen (Ube National College of Technology), Professor Fukagawa established the Bamboo Mineral Laboratory in Hōfu City in 2009.
He has since dedicated himself to revitalizing local communities and preserving Japan’s satoyama landscapes through bamboo mineral research — working tirelessly to connect a beautiful, sustainable countryside to future generations.

Inspired by his sincere passion and commitment, I decided to take part in his work.
In 2012, I launched my first products, Super Mineral and Kasseisui (Activated Water).
Thanks to these products, more people discovered the benefits of bamboo minerals —
and many shared their joy: “My skin feels calmer,” “It’s so gentle and comfortable to use.”

Those voices eventually led to the creation of the bambina skincare series.

Whenever I develop new products, I always seek Professor Fukagawa’s advice.
In fact, I recently visited him again to discuss an upcoming new formula.

The details of the new product will be announced soon —
so please stay tuned.
